Sopron is known as the "Most Faithful City" in Hungary. This is because of its choice to stay a part of Hungary as opposed to becoming part of Austria in 1921.
The city has a long history first settled by the Celts, then it became a fully fortified Roman outpost settlement.
In recent history the city indirectly played a major part in bringing about the fall of the Iron Curtain.
